The BIG Advent Calendar


 Each day throughout December,  a new window was decorated by a group from within the church or the local community.  Above is a collection of some of the windows including Swavesey Community Choir, Explorers Group,The Church Worship Group, Swavesey Camera Club and the Brownies.  On 24th December the Church was open so that all the windows could be admired.

  

Outdoor Nativity

Sunday 18th December

Many people came along to be a part of the GREATEST story EVER told ….Mary and Joseph led the visitors to look for accommodation, and then travelled across the fields to see the shepherds huddled over a fire, the angels suddenly appear, and the star leading the wise men to the stable where  a baby was cradled on Mary’s knee.

 

Monday Night Club Christmas Celebration

Monday 19th December

Over 100 children and their parents attended this event. The children played games and did craft activities before eating supper together.

  

Candlelight Christmas Eve Celebration

24th December

This was attended by a wide age range of people. The Bethel puppets started off the service and the theme of The Great Escape helped everyone to prepare to celebrate Jesus’ birth .

 

Christmas Day Celebration

Alternative Christmas Market:

At this year’s market there were over 20 stalls and £1000 was raised for Multiple Sclerosis Society. The stalls  included:

Swavesey Primary School playing field.

Come and join us for an afternoon of family fun. Bring your own picnic and join in the fun and games including Volleyball, Softball, Kwik Cricket, Tag Rugby and Challenge Games

Journey to the Cross:

This was a Multimedia journey through the week leading up to Easter. The journey started with Jesus entry into Jerusalem and followed through to the resurrection. It was well attended and proved to be stimulating and thought provoking.


Brainbox Challenge: Sunday 20th March

After the morning service there was a bring and share lunch which included a Quiz organised by Urban Saints for teams of young people in school years 7 – 11. The food was plentiful and good and the quiz was enjoyed by all.

Dedication Service: Sunday 6th March

As part of the Sunday service Yinka and Moji Opaleye brought their children Temi, Ayo and Anjola to be dedicated. This was to give thanks for their family to God and to share their joy with the whole of the fellowship. It was a lively service with several African worship songs, bible readings and prayers for each of the children.


Wellsprings:  Wednesday 2nd February – 28th March 2011        8 pm

This is a seven week course for Women starting on 2nd February. The course will provide an opportunity to discuss Issues facing Women today; to enjoy each others company and be pampered.

God and Chocolate:  Friday 28th January 2011        7-10 pm

Cheryl, a professional chocolatier, kept us enthralled as she described the history of Chocolate, allowed us to appreciate many different types of chocloate by letting us taste them all! demonstrated truffle making and then allowed us to make our own truffles and chocolates. She talked about how God has been involved in this work and gave us each a chocolate heart to demonstrate how much God loves each one of us. The heart contained gold leaf to show just how precious we all  are.

2011 New Year Party on 8th January       6pm onwards

An informal evening where we met together and enjoyed each other’s company.  This event was well attended with about fifty adults together with their families, lots of food and some entertaining quizzes and games.

Explorers Party   Monday 20th December 2010

Christmas was celebrated with all the explorers at the end of term party.

Open Air Nativity   Sunday 19th December 2010        5pm

Journey with the shepherds, kings and angels to meet and celebrate the birth of Jesus at the stable. Follow Mary and Joseph across the fields and return to church to enjoy mulled wine, sausage rolls and mince pies.

Murder Mystery Evening  November 2010

An evening of fun to solve a mystery. Where was the missing diamond and who committed the crime?  A 1920s theme to  a story of intrigue, with a delicious supper, superb acting and finally the answer was revealed.

Journey to the Cross is an interactive experience for the whole family. It will take between 30 and 60 minutes to complete the journey.
Journey to the Cross is not a formal service. You can come along and begin the journey at any time and leave when you are ready.
